Hospitality Awards 2021

Page 18 www.lux-review.com LUX 2021 Hospitality Awards The story of Liverpool’s first roastery-coffee shop, 92 Degrees, began in January 2015 at the corner of Hope Street and Hardman Street in the Georgian Quarter, when the tiny space opened its doors and began cooking up beans on the (now comparably small) 2.5kg Diedrich roaster and serving incredible coffee to locals. Due to its popularity, it quickly outgrew this space, along with the capacity of its roaster! Founded by Jack Brewitt, who recognised the need for an authentic and properly roasted cup of coffee in the area, 92 Degrees has since gone from strength to strength, expanded, and now occupies seven sites across four of the biggest cities in the North West. “In a nutshell, we offer awesome coffee!” enthuses Jack. “Our aim is to educate as many people as possible on the work that goes into creating a great cup of coffee - from the beauty of picking the cherry, to the process of creating the flat white with its latte art.” From origin to cup, 92 Degrees focuses on creating a sustainable supply chain which includes giving 10% of its retail coffee revenue to Project Waterfall - a charity focused on providing clean water and sanitation to coffee growing communities across the world. To date, 92 Degrees has guaranteed over 215 people clean water and sanitation for life. “It’s not just a great quality coffee and a good price,” Jack elaborates. “We are big believers that any skill can be taught but morals are something that are deeper, which is why when we recruit, we are focused on finding good people who want to make the world a better place with us!” Aug21199 92 Degrees Best Specialty Coffee Roasters 2021 – Northern England The hospitality industry is in big recovery mode following the Covid-19 pandemic which brought it to its knees in 2020 and 2021. It’s safe to say that the last 18 months have been tough for 92 Degrees and its team, therefore it is of high importance to Jack that, when any customer goes into any establishment, the people who work in the industry look after those customers to the best of their ability to make sure customers feel comfortable. “Our customers were utterly amazing over the last 18 months,” he enthuses. “They all started purchasing directly from our online store, which saw our sales rocketing by around 10,000% online! “There have definitely been opportunities from the last year or more, and that is due to our team thinking outside the box and focusing on moving forward.” And, having recently been crowned Best Specialty Coffee Roasters 20201 – Northern England in the LUXlife Hospitality Awards, 92 Degrees is focusing on moving forward too! “We are now looking to expand our e-commerce offering while also looking further into new product development, which the whole team are very excited about!” Contact: Jack Brewitt Company: 92 Degrees Web Address: www.92degrees.coffee The UK’s obsession with coffee is ever-increasing and it’s not hard to see why, with a coffee shop on almost every street corner in towns and cities. But what does it take to get a real cup of coffee? We speak to Jack Brewitt, Founder & CEO of 92 Degrees, which specialises in roasting its own beans for a genuinely untouchable cup of the good stuff!
