Founder and Director of Luxury Chalet Book, Simon Gill, along with his wife Nicola, Sales Director, speak with LUX about working with the World’s best ski chalets and ensuring their clients enjoy the best possible ski holiday experience.

Luxury Chalet Book is a ski chalet holiday agency offering a personal service with an intimate knowledge of luxury chalets and ski holidays. With an extensive portfolio, they work with over 700 properties in four countries and in over 40 leading European ski resorts. The company was founded by Simon Gill in 2014, after spending 12 years working in ski resorts in France, Austria and Canada. This experience was further enhanced through several more years liaising and working with ski travel agencies.

In the spring of 2017, Simon’s wife Nicola joined the company. After successfully working in chalets since 2003, and managing the famous Chalet Les Brames in Méribel for five years, she launched and operated some of the most luxurious and unique ski chalets for private owners. She went on to win two World Ski Awards for World’s Best New Ski Chalet in 2014 and 2016 with these properties. Her innovative and empathetic approach has led to endless satisfied clients, as well as successful standalone businesses for the chalet owners.

Nicola now brings the same five-star service and experienced first-hand knowledge to the role of Sales Manager at Luxury Chalet Book. Simon says “We believe there is no one better at understanding client expectations and chalet hospitality, which will be of enormous benefit to our clients.”

Simon adds “Luxury Chalet Book’s mission has been to work closely with our clients and to fully understand what they are seeking from their next ski holiday. It is our priority to ensure they book the right ski chalet holiday, which matches their wishes and exceeds their expectations. We are not about pushing the most expensive property or resort, but we are here to guide our clients to the most suitable holiday for them. Also, we take account of the bigger picture – recommending the appropriate resort, catered or self-catered chalets, suitably matching their expectations and wishes taking into consideration all their varied requirements and expectations.”
By recognising and truly understanding our clients’ needs and discussing these with them, this year we have carried out an in-depth review of our practice and performance, which has led us to enhance our portfolio to meet expanding holiday needs and aspirations. To that affect, we have been visiting new resorts and chalets and revisiting existing ones, to update our knowledge and evaluate the quality of our selection of properties and resorts offered – only the best will do for our clients!

Further evidence of our developing practice, has been the broadening of our portfolio to provide a competitive price range with more affordable properties and extending our selection of quality self-catered chalets and apartments.

Nicola adds “Importantly, we have introduced an appointment system, where we make ourselves available to chat at a convenient time for all clients, and especially for those who are unable to do so during normal working hours. We appreciate how busy life can be. Sometimes, it is easier to chat after the children have gone to bed, after that late business meeting, or on a Sunday when you finally have some time for yourself! Our clients tell us they like this personal approach.”

In an increasingly competitive market, people are understandably more price sensitive and by having a larger selection of properties, especially self-catered and with independent travel, it has allowed us to offer greater flexibility and availability for a more affordable winter holiday. We have developed our practice so that we are now working with more owner-operated properties. These more unique properties with either local staff, or the owners themselves in attendance, afford the true home from home experience chalet holidays are rightly famed for.

Moving forward, we believe there will be a further focus on more specialist winter and ski holidays. Recently, we are seeing many chalets creating individually tailored experiences, with a special focus on cuisine and chalets working with Michelin starred chefs, to guided off-piste adventure weeks and chalets with their own dedicated heli-skiing operation. We understand this trend and we are being pro-active in meeting our clients’ desire for more new and varied activities.
