An international designer who excels at combining a sophisticated style with classic, timeless design, Christina Klarsfield has swiftly made her mark on an industry that is – by all considerations – incredibly competitive. Recognised among the winners of LUXlife’s 2019 Leading Designers programme for the ‘Most Outstanding Range of Interior Design & Styling Services’, we took a closer look at Christina’s work to find out more about her inspirations and design ethos.

Great design comes in many different shapes, styles and sizes. Some find inspiration in the techniques of yesteryear, embracing classical features in search of transcendent spaces. Others prefer modernity, minimalism, and the avant-garde as they push the boundaries on what is expected, or even possible.

Christina Klarsfeld Design has found success through finding a synergy of the two, combining bold choices with an element of timelessness, with designs that will remain relevant and interesting for years to come. Her inspiration comes from a variety of places, notably through the integration of her travel experiences to the south of France, Italy, New York and Los Angeles. Some of her projects are distinctly European chic, evoking her adventures around the continent. Here and there you get a more bombastic vibe: spaces that thrive and flourish with colour and vibrancy. This is most commonly seen in her commercial work, as she looks to embrace brand identity as much as possible, without sacrificing the core theme.

When it comes to her residential projects, Christina has built her reputation on bringing that certain “je ne sais quoi” into her client’s homes. Naturally, success in residential design relies on an ability to communicate with the client, and to understand – at the most basic of levels- what makes a house a home. It’s about personal touches. The smallest of things that evoke memories. It’s about capturing the client’s personality. Successfully achieving that is a fundamental goal in residential design. It’s something that comes very easy to Christina and is evident across her portfolio of work.

With this in mind, it is no surprise that she was recognised specifically for her versatility and adaptability. Whatever the size or complexity of the project, Christina has exceeded expectations, creating designs that are simply outstanding. By balancing the classical elements with the experimental, she builds – piece by piece – spaces that are interesting, different and new. It’s a talent that few can replicate and has served to distinguish her from a wealth of competitors and peers.
