Are Apple Products Really the Luxury Option?

For a long while now, Apple products have held a place of distinction in the public eye. To many, these are the systems which represent the best that mobiles, tablets, and home computers have to offer. To others, these systems are overpriced and unnecessary. So where exactly does the truth for these systems lie?

The Pros of Mac

Perhaps the most significant advantage of Mac devices is their simplicity. If you have used any Apple system within the last ten years, then chances are you will have no issue using any of their other devices. By having such unified systems, Apple device ensure that nobody familiar with their devices is ever left behind.

Compare this with an alternative operating system such as Windows. While each new version of Windows shared many similar components, there are also key areas where the fundamentals of the system are changed. This is especially a problem for those who go into the deep areas of computer software, as with each new Windows iteration they will have to learn again to obtain base competence.

This user-friendliness also extends to the individual programs included on Apple devices. Apple products are famous for their capabilities in media manipulation and design, and this is again an area where PCs can struggle. Even third-party programs on Apple know that they have to adhere to strict design principals to be effective, and this is beneficial to the entire Apple software environment.

The final advantage we want to touch on is the level of quality which is guaranteed on various Apple products.

It should be noted that there are certain devices within the Apple line which are poorly designed, but the reliable ones tend to be extraordinarily stable. While PCs can have a dozen different components from a dozen different companies, Apple’s design is more controlled and contained, which has more than paid off for in quality assurance.

The Pros of PC

PCs are the workhorses of the digital world and are the overwhelming choice for both software developers and gamers. A big part of this comes down to the versatility of PCs. When you buy an Apple, you only get a few choices in which changes you want to a system. PC’s, on the other hand, allow users to custom choose however much software and hardware they wish.

This allows them to be a perfect fit when it comes to personalized usage. If you want a cheap computer for working with simple text then build one. If you want a powerful computer to render enormous quantities of video footage then design one, and put it together yourself.

Do you want a gaming computer? Then build your own through sites which offer a multitude of parts as well as build guides. You still have to be sure you have the right form factors, power supplied, and socket types, but there is still no comparison on the larger scale.

Another major advantage here is one of cost. Apple products are notorious for being some of the most expensive. This is especially obvious when you compare the costs of an Apple device to a similarly specced PC counterpart. For the same cost of an Apple, you can almost always get a much more powerful PC alternative, and the same applies to other devices in Apple’s lineup.

Still, on the gaming front, we also have to take into account the issue of compatibility. While practically every modern computer game will work on a PC, the same cannot be said for Mac. Even when games come to Mac they are often delayed, and perform worse than they do on PC.

 What About the Future?

When looking at the future, it is streaming which is poised to make the biggest waves within the next few years. We’ve already seen this method of media delivery take major steps, but it still has yet to reach the final stage of its long evolution.

Take the popular movie and television streaming service of Netflix for example. Instead of having to be a slave to regular timetables, this has allowed users to watch what they want when they want, and as many times as they desire. The convenience here is too much to ignore, so these systems have taken huge bites out of the traditional market.

Gaming has also seen some steps forward on this front with the likes of iGaming. Online casinos such as Betway have drawn huge numbers by incorporating streaming into their websites with live games such as blackjack, roulette, poker, and Monopoly. These combine at-home play with top-quality experiences, using technology which has only recently become feasible.

In the future, this could expand to traditional AAA gaming and even graphic design. The coming Google Stadia will allow players to stream games at the highest settings right into any modern device with a fast internet connection. This effectively bypasses many hardware and compatibility limitations, meaning many Apple devices will be able to compete with the best in home PCs. This could also help significantly with rendering times in media creation.

While this technology is still not quite viable on the largest scale, 5G and general improving connectivity will only lower the barriers to entry further. We would never predict that this technology will eliminate the need or desire for PCs and offline systems altogether, but we can anticipate that Apple products will benefit hugely from these advances.

With these issues seeing coming solutions, expect Apple to become an even more powerful force in luxury devices than ever.
