LUX Autumn 2018

LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 41 Autumn 2018 how each space that they work with has its own inherent personality, and the team builds upon this. In addition, Pol also reveals the secrets behind how they create such innovative solutions to maintain his remarkable success as an interior designer. “Preserving the personality of the space, the historical memory, is extremely important to me. Whenever possible, I like to keep as many pre-existing details as possible. Sometimes, I will renovate or replicate architectural details to keep the original look while bringing those details up to code, or for modern convenience and lifestyle. “I take this inherent personality and emphatically intertwine the personality and needs of my client into it. This process, finding the concept, varies from project to project. I adjust the process to suit the needs of my client; I have found that being adaptable is the best way to ensure proper communication and allows for the greatest success in each project. “One of the nice things about interior design is that you never stop learning. What is sometimes difficult to remember in the moment is that the whole process is an experiment - sometimes things go wrong, it’s not a seamless process - the only way for it to be executed without error is if it has been done before, and that is never the goal. A part of the process is to learn from my mistakes and to continue building my experience, but at the same time the experiments never end. We experiment, we make mistakes, we learn from them and then we try more new things. Not only am I always challenging myself, but I am also challenging my clients to explore with me.” Speaking of success, P&T Interiors was featured in LUXlife ’s 2018 Leading Designers where they were selected as New York’s Most Innovative Boutique Interior Design Firm. When discussing the win, Pol is keen to highlight some of the challenges he has had to face over the years, which have only provided him with strength to be the person he is today. “I am extremely honoured to be receiving such an important award. I am grateful for this recognition. Every nominee is well deserved, and I am honoured to be in such great company. “The professional challenges I have faced over the years have strengthened me and made me more into the person I am today - a thorough professional who knows exactly what he wants; someone who sets his eyes on a goal and does not lose sight of it until it is achieved. Winning this award would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from my colleagues, for whom I have the deepest respect, and from whom I have derived the strength to challenge myself and perform better at each stage.” Bringing the interview to a close, Pol signs off by envisioning what the future has in store for P&T Interiors, as well as any plans that lie in the pipeline for the award-winning boutique design firm. “Entrepreneurship is a lesson in persistence and dedication. It takes equal amounts of passion, talent and hard work to develop any business. There are ebbs and flows to starting anything from scratch, so the key is to stick with it, and never forget your goal. Benefits are rarely reaped linearly, but they will bare their head in the long run as long as you stick with your gut, have something special to offer, and have the patience and tenacity to keep at it long enough to get there. “As far as a business in design, New York City is a great place to be. Here, hiring an interior designer is relatively normal. Where is the market for your business? That’s an important question to consider for longevity.” Contact: [email protected] Company: P&T Interiors, The Arts Building 336 West 37th Street - Suite 420, New York, NY 10018, USA Telephone: (+1) 212 679 4125 Web Address: www.pandtinteriors.com
