LUX Autumn 2018

LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 51 Autumn 2018 is one of the best ways to keep humble and encourages continued growth. Also, I mentor designers that are just starting out in the industry and have watched many bloomed into amazing successes.” Ruthie is an advocate that everyone, no matter how much they can be considered an expert in the area, can learn new things every day and improve continuously.” Citing a recent example, “I recently participated in the first ever Dallas, Texas Designer Showhouse sponsored by ‘Traditional Home Magazine.’ The experience with the magazine as well as the other top designers in the country was incredible. I learned so much more about Luxe design and met some incredible mentors in the design business.” Finally, regarding the future of the industry, Ruthie echoes the thoughts of interior designers the world over – global digitisation and connectivity is resulting in the rise of the ‘armchair designer’. As products become ever-more available to the public, often at the click of a button, designers are having to change their approach to their work to remain competitive. However, in the case of design, the ‘do-it-yourself’ mentality cannot match the work of a professional designer, “The design industry is changing so much due to the internet and public access to products. Previously in the industry, the products we offered to our clients were not available to the public. That has changed so we are having to adjust with that and learn a new way of working with clients that want to purchase items themselves.” Ruthie is, by any metric, one of the best interior designers working in the southern United States. Her years of hands-on, practiced experience have given her an insight into design that few can match. As a noted design influencer, she has mentored others, helping them to become great designers in turn. By all regards, Ruthie represents the very best of the industry; a designer with a desire to learn and adapt to developments, teach others, and have the best interests of their clients in mind, always. For this reason, she was selected as the Leading Expert in Full-Service Design. We can think of no one more deserving of the accolade.
