67 Bowery Productions is an independent film and production company based out of Glasgow, Scotland. In July, Bowery Productions were recognised in LUXlife Magazine’s 2018 Best of the Wedding Industry Awards, with the title of Best Wedding Videographer. On the back of this deserved achievement, we spoke with Creative Director, Jo Pirie to find out how Bowery Productions has become one of the finest Videographers in the UK. After opting to book a videographer for their wedding in 2008, Jo and Don understand the importance of exceeding client’s expectations, and wanted to use their learned expertise as film makers to pass the joy of the final product on to others. To start, Jo emphasises the importance of establishing the narrative of the day, rather than organising a series of staged shots; “What is very important is to tell the story of the day, rather than just featuring the couple in beautifully staged shots. I prefer to focus on the moment with no set up. The day is already so beautiful, so with my documentary background, I prefer to keep it natural – focusing on both the gorgeous couple and their families too. I hate to miss anything - often setting up filming with gimbals and drones can result in things being missed. So, I’m always ready with the camera to capture the real moment.” “If you look through Bowery Productions films, you will see so many beautiful happy moments - something I spend weeks in the edit putting together.” 1808LU08 A Scottish BAFTA winning documentary film-maker, Jo has built a career on the back of TV production, starting as an Associate Producer of ITV, she has been a Producer at Endemol, Granada Media and the BBC, forging a reputation as an extraordinary story-teller and film maker. According to Jo; “my favourite programmes have involved travelling across America with Russell Brand, filming in South Africa with acclaimed photographer Rankin, an ITV prime series with Tess Daly; travelling throughout Eastern Europe with Kirsty Wark and working on “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”. Ultimately, being a wedding videographer is an occupation defined by joy. Indeed, many of Bowery Production’s bookings are referrals from previous weddings, “We are so grateful to all the wonderful couples we have filmed with over the years, many of which have become close friends.
