It really is ‘clucking’ marvellous!” With the emphasis very much on having fun, all of the tutors and models at Hens with Pens are well-versed in bringing imaginative party ideas along with them to all their group events, so all clients have to do is turn up and throw themselves into it! “All our teams have experience of working with LBGTQ groups as well as all our fabulous hens so whoever you are you will be made most welcome,” Mother Hen continues. “The idea is to just let yourself go. You will be talking about it and laughing about it for many years after!” Customer service is at the heart of everything the company does and its small but mighty admin team is there every step of the way to guide and inform. By the time the party date arrives a real rapport has built up between us and we can fine-tune every party to suit the group. To add to this, not only are the admin team on hand, the attending artist and model will also be in touch to introduce themselves prior to the event giving reassurance and breaking the ice before the event arrives. As we run in many different establishments across the whole of the UK, from homes to hotels, yurts to beaches, we never quite know where are going to end up, so those introduction calls are all important contact methods so that no-one is left unsure of where to be or when.” The last 18 months have been understandably challenging and, having fallen between the cracks of the legislation for support, the company found itself effectively shutting overnight for more than a year. “The impact of this was far greater than financial as it had a huge emotional impact on both staff and our hen groups - with wedding after wedding being forced to cancel,” says Mother Hen. “We had a constant stream of devasted individuals worried about what the future held for their event.” Mother Hen and the dedicated team dealt with every party on an individual basis and immediately set about putting in place a published structure of support with every group being offered the opportunity to cancel or postpone. “Very nearly all of our events have been carried forward and rearranged multiple times as the guidance constantly changed. We feel that this faith and level of confidence in us to still deliver could only be met by the accessibility we gave our groups despite the lack of business income we actually had.” Further to this, Hens with Pens set about providing a series of free art classes online for both children and adults, which got a fantastic response. Now, in the run-up to reopening, the firm is fully supporting its teams to ensure that quality has not been compromised by the break.
