New Year 2019

24 Debra is, by all regards, an expert in her craft. As a member of the British Institute of Interior Design with over fifteen years’ experience in the industry, she has the skills, talent and connections to exceed the most discerning of expectations. On the subject of her team, Debra continues: “We are a small team, but dedicated and committed to providing a professional and honest service. We make sure we update our knowledge on an ongoing basis by attending industry events, CPDs, fairs and seminars. Additionally, we also learn from our colleagues and other trade professionals such as architects and suppliers.” The conversation soon turns to the interior design industry as a whole. Debra spends some time discussing the challenges and opportunities that have arisen over the last year. The interior design industry is awash with a plethora of talented companies and individuals. As such, competition for each project is tough – especially with the challenge of the stagnant housing market, the tough economic climate and the affect of stamp duty on the public moving to a new house. However, in this challenging market, more people are looking to develop, update, renovate or extend their homes. dk INTERIORS has risen to the challenges in 2018 by focusing on what we do best, which is to provide a personal, professional and creative service.” Debra believes these challenges look set to continue as the sector moves into the new year: “Uncertainty in the housing market will be a continued challenge, but again we are confident we can continue to grow in the market.” Finally, Debra takes a moment to comment on the future of dk INTERIORS, as it looks towards continuing their year on year growth. “We are growing every year: the projects have become larger and more complex. With our relationships with suppliers – suppliers we can rely on, trust, and develop with – being key to our ongoing growth. This year our aim is to widen our supplier base, introducing a ‘freshness’ into our designs. Next year we will be involved in a ground up project outside of London for an old client of the firm, which is super exciting.” Contact: Debra Kacher Address: 64 Meadway, London, United Kingdom Website: www.dkinteriors.uk.com Telephone: +44 (0) 20 8455 1254 Founded in 2008, dk INTERIORS is a specialised residential interior designer with a reputation for creating beautiful, elegant and timeless spaces. In November, the firm was recognised in LUXLife Magazine’s ongoing 2018 Leading Designers Awards with the ‘Award for Excellence in High- End Interior Design’. Eager to find out more, we spoke with the firm’s owner, Debra Kacher, for insight into her work and inspiration. The residential interior design sector is notoriously competitive, and only growing more so with each passing year. As designers around the globe try new ways to emphasise their unique creative flair, it is becoming difficult for a firm to distinguish themselves from their peers and competitors. In the luxury sphere, a designer’s ability to differentiate their work is more sought after, as clients want new ways to help realise their individuality and ‘uniqueness’ in their residences. With ten years of experience, dk INTERIORS have forged a reputation for understated, yet elegant designs that are, by any definition, luxurious. More than anything, they have flourished through a keen ability to reflect ‘the client’- their memories, experiences, interests, and hobbies in their designs, creating a broad portfolio that adapts and evolves depending on the space and creative brief. Debra explains further: “We always aim to offer design solutions that are functionally luxurious. Style is of a huge importance to us. At dk INTERIORS, we create stylish interiors and although we do not impose a house style, it is most certainly underlying in their approach. Our services include space planning, bathroom and kitchen design, lighting and joinery design, as well as furniture and fabric scheme and sourcing. Each project is planned from inception to installation.” “Our service is highly personalised, friendly and approachable with a high level of attention to detail. We listen very carefully to the client’s brief ensuring we incorporate their needs and wants into the meticulous planning of every project. During the design process we have regular client meetings to ensure that the process is both collaborative and inclusive. Further, communication is vital to each project when it comes to making it as stress free as possible. Obviously, no project runs smoothly, but with our transparency and efficiency we help to diffuse the stress!” Nov18753 Impressing Through Timeless Design Style
