Taking to time provide us with an insight into the firm, is founder and principle designer of Leili Design Studio, Leili Fatemi who reveals more about their creative process and how they turn their clients dreams into reality. Leili Design Studio provides all the materials and products needed to finish the project, large or small. From full interior design layouts, which may include everything from creating original art to custom installations that are designed specifically for the space. When undertaking a new project, Leili explains the process she takes to ensure that her clients receive the best possible outcome and what qualities make for both excellent design and designers. “At the very beginning of the project, I meet with clients two times for at least three hours (each time) in order to see what they want to achieve; what their style is; and, if I’m working with couples, make sure they are on the same page. If they’re not on the same page, I work to combine both ideas. My philosophy, which I always share with my clients is ‘ Your house is my project, but in the end it’s your home and you have to love it. I respect the fact that you allowed me to turn your house to your home .’ I want my clients to be very comfortable with me and open up. I don’t need them to just be nice with me — I need them to be honest and share their true opinions during all steps of the process. Most of all, I treat them with honesty, respect and I’m always available to them. “As for what qualities make for both excellent design and designers, it’s a combination of having a creative vision, fully understanding the space and having a very close relationship with the client in order to effectively translate their needs. A designer must understand what you can do within a space in order to enhance it. I’m there every step of the way personally and monitor the process very closely. I’m a control freak, detail oriented and good at scheduling and working close with a multitude of vendors.” Leili has a background in graphic design which helps her to create and bring unique ideas to life. Alongside her years of experience, Leili informs us on how she is able to create innovative solutions to help maintain her success as an architect. “I am an avid reader of interior design magazines and spend my free time following websites and manufacturers’ new products in addition to attending workshops. Also, I really, really love creating and what I do. The human brain never tires of creating something new. At least mine doesn’t.” On the topic of success, Leili Design Studio was selected in LUXlife’s 2018 Leading Designer Awards where they received the title Best Upscale Interior Design Services — Florida. When discussing the win, Leili highlights what the award means for the firm, and reflects on their most successful project to date. “I’m so happy and honoured to have been selected by LUX. It’s a wonderful motivator to continue on my path. It’s shows that hard pays off. Style Reflecting a Sense of Style “Recognition at this level is amazing for our firm. To be honoured by a magazine the quality and stature of LUX, which is acclaimed around the world for its taste and style, will not only be boon for us commercially but also inspire us to continue working hard. “What we call the Bobcat project. The client put it 100% on my shoulders. When someone tells me ‘ Give me something that no one else in Southwest Florida has ’, that’s everything. It makes me so happy and satisfied when I can create something truly special. It was a wonderfully creative challenge - especially the bar - and was an opportunity to do something different.” Looking ahead to what the future holds, Leili lists the changes that she foresees within the industry, as well as revealing her plans for the award-winning design firm. “I think that technology is going to have a major impact – both positive and negative. There are apps coming out all the time that make people think they don’t need interior designers anymore. People think interior design is about selection. What they don’t know is that they don’t have the knowledge of the relationship between space and objects: the knowledge of how to create a well-balanced space by combining design aspects and styles. The benefit, of course, is smart home applications and the opportunities that technology presents within the home.
