Resorts & Retreats Awards 2022

Page 38 www.lux-review.com LUXlife 2022 Resorts & Retreats Awards When Nicolas Dietrich and his family acquired Villa Sessanella in 2007, their vision was already in place. He explains, “We wanted to create somewhere idyllic. A place of rest and relaxation in the heart of Piedmont. As well as providing a perfect service for guests, we imagined growing our own sustainable produce. Although the business is still a family concern, we’ve introduced some professional structure. Our guests are always our number one priority, and that’s how we want them to feel.” The villa itself has been luxuriously appointed. With more than 500 square metres of living space, Villa Sessanella can welcome up to 10 guests. Being set in a hectare of private parkland and having its own bar, movie theatre, swimming pool, and professional kitchen, there’s no need to go anywhere else. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Villa Sessanella has seen a rapid rise in demand for its services. Nicolas says, “The advantage of renting a villa is that you don’t come into contact with other guests. So the risk of contracting COVID-19 is lower. As Villa Sessanella is for the exclusive use of the tenant, and this includes the pool and the park, privacy is guaranteed.” But, now life is getting back to normal, the Piedmont region is a great place to explore too. So you can wander through rolling landscapes, visit medieval castles, or sample the unique cuisine of the region. And there’s more – UNESCO has recognised the heart of Piedmont (Monferrato) as a world heritage site for its vineyards too. Set amongst 4 hectares of private grounds and enjoying views of the Swiss Alps, Villa Sessanella is a stunningly secluded getaway. Today the estate, in the heart of the Piedmont region, produces its own wine, fruit, and vegetables. Owner, Nicolas Dietrich, tells us about Sessanella’s journey from a small project to a luxury agritourism destination. Jun22511 Villa Sessanella Best Luxury Villa Retreat – Northwest Italy In 2010, the Villa Sessanella winery began producing its own wine. The winery favours Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Chardonnay grape varieties. These are typical of the Piedmontese region. Certified Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC), the winery sells to visitors and local restauranteurs. Nicolas tells us, “We’re also in constant contact with our wine customers. We’re on a first-name basis with our suppliers and visit them regularly. We’re keen to ensure all our services and products are of the highest quality at all times.” In Nicolas’ words, what makes this slice of heaven so special is the “product knowledge. We always want to make sure our customers get value for money. Knowing our products ensures we can do that. We get to know every guest and it’s important that they feel special. We’re sure to always collect their feedback. This gives an idea of what we’re doing well and where we can improve.” Looking to the future, Villa Sessanella will be looking to further expand its wine business alongside the exquisite work it already does for the world. It shows no sign of stopping, or even slowing down, as it consistently works to improve every service for its many customers.
