Feb19044 Shahad Alazzaz, founder of Azaz Architects, was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to famous journalist and photographer, Saleh Alazzaz. Embracing a unique visual aesthetic, Alazzaz’s work is often avant-garde, modern – almost experimental. Shortly after, she joined a Spanish firm in Madrid as a summer intern but was soon appointed the company’s representative for Middle Eastern projects, impressing with her ability to manage projects of all sizes. Yet, ambition drove Alazzaz further, and she completed an MA in Architectural Design and Management from Madrid’s IE Business School in 2015 at the top of her class. Two years later, Alazzaz founded Azaz Architects, uniting her passion to design with what she describes as a “new philosophy”. The boutique firm provides architectural services for interior and exterior projects. The team, internationally based between Riyadh and Madrid, is entirely client-centric, tailoring each project to the client’s individual needs and specifications. This proven approach has created a broad and rich portfolio for Azaz Architects, despite its two-year history. Since then, the firm has been recognised in the International Property Awards in two categories: Architecture Single Residence and Mixed-Use Architecture. Alazzaz is also a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) representative in Riyadh, acting as testament to her incredible talent.
