Spring 2022

19 Nov21562 Best Vegan Syrups Range 2021 Long-standing, renowned company Toschi specialises in the production of flavoured syrups for use in the food and beverage industry. We find out more about the company and its heritage as we speak to Philip Rundlett. Toschi Vignola is an Italian food company founded in Vignola, Modena, in 1945. It all started when Giancarlo and Lanfranco Toschi first dipped the famous Vignola cherries into alcohol to preserve them and enjoy them all year round. Known as ‘Frutta Spiritosa’ (fruit in liqueur), the business steadily grew over the years to add a range of syrups, liqueurs, candied amarena cherries, ingredients for artisanal gelato, and balsamic vinegar of modena PGI to its portfolio. The experience gained over the years has led Toschi Vignola to create a wide range of products for all types of markets and consumers and its company ‘spirit’ is to tell its story to customers through its unique products. “Our mission remains the same to this day,” explains Philip Rundlett, the company’s UK Managing Director. “That is to create high-quality products that reflect the flavour and traditions of Italy. Our company works extensively with importers and distributors across the globe; these companies are selected based on their expertise within their fields and knowledge of their country’s needs.” Toschi offers a range of high-quality, gourmet, concentrated syrups and sweet sauces for drink and coffee preparations, which combine tradition with innovation. With more than 60 different flavours, from Italian classics to new, more unusual ones, all products contain a high percentage of fruits with only the very best ingredients being used. “These sweet sauces have become very sought after and are now a must-have ingredient in the cafeteria,” elaborates Philip. “With their high-quality recipe and their solubility, it makes them perfect for the preparation of coffee, cappuccinos, lattes and much more.” All the Toschi products are 100% made in Italy and are all gluten free, containing no artificial preservatives. The fruit flavours produced are packed with fruit pulp, making them ideal for cocktails and mocktails, and Toschi has a large network of distributors through which it delivers its products to target specific markets, such as coffee, shops, foodservice establishments, and licensed premises. Despite its sterling product offering, Brexit and Covid have both created issues for Toschi, in terms of staffing, drivers and the cost of raw materials. But more recently, the upward surge in wholesale energy costs has had the largest impact. All of these factors combined have placed additional burdens on manufacturers and, as a result of cost rises, Toschi has tried to mitigate the overall cost increases and only imposed moderate increases on its own produce. Fortunately, it has largely retained its loyal and committed customer base. Recently, Toschi was recognised in the prestigious LUXlife Awards and its product offering was named Best Vegan Syrups Range 2021. Philip, along with his colleagues, were naturally delighted and are looking forward to a productive future. Philip concludes, “Our company will be in its 77th year of trade and over the next few years we are implementing a huge investment in our plant, expanding our production to satisfy the increases we have seen in global business, and future proofing the needs of our ever-expanding client base.” Contact Details Contact: Philip Rundlett Company: Toschi UK Ltd Web Address: www.toschiuk.co.uk
