Summer 2018

22 “I hope that we continue to grow and, as we live in a time of constant innovation and challenges, I feel energized and I am looking forward to a great and creative year (and more) to come. The United Kingdom seems to be approaching a new era in larger, and developing, markets.” To finish, Lucille spoke of LMF International’s imminent future, “We have just completed a major project in Hampshire UK, and the experience gained on this project due to its conservation and listed building status has inspired us to undertake more of the same here as well as continuing to work abroad.” Named in the LUXlife Leading Designers Awards, LMF International Design Consultants has made its mark as one of the very best firms, around the world, for full-service design/build projects. It’s an area of noted complexity; few can balance the demands of overseeing a client’s dreams from inception to completion. Lucille succeeds in the area with aplomb, allowing her years of experience, in a variety of cultures, to guide her designs in inspirational ways. LMF is, by all regards, a worthy winner of the award, and will continue to make a dramatic mark on the industry for many years to come. In the same vein, Lucille speaks of what makes a successful project, “A successful project is built around a fully-specified package, with the finished project true to the original and approved design. Naturally, I also believe in completing a project on time and on budget – that can often be an indicator of success.” Regarding what Lucille considers her most successful project, “That is easy; The Tent House Suites at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort on the Sunshine Coast British Columbia. We were asked to design and build 14 five-star tents hanging over a rock overlooking the Malaspena Strait. A boardwalk was constructed running across the rock and between the Arbutus trees with 14 platforms constructed off it and suspended over the water. Each one was self-contained in terms of access to water, electricity, plumbing etc.” “We designed each tent to have a deck leading out -with completely private access- overlooking the water. The tent interiors have underfloor heating, a small fire, therapeutic spa baths with light therapy, showers, toilets, a wardrobe, king size beds and a fridge.” The project has gone on to be named in international and nationally- recognised publications, and been a true source of revitalisation for the Rockwater Secret Cove Resort.
