21 Mar22485 Best Rural B&B Accommodation – Cornwall The recently renovated farmhouse, Cusgarne Manor, makes for an interesting choice of accommodation. Tied up in centuries of history, the stunning location offers a comfortable base for the perfect Cornish retreat. Cornwall – or Kernow, in its native language – is a unique county, and one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations. Indeed, the county is home to a thriving arts community, tourist scene, and a fascinating history, and therefore, it is clear to see why the Cornish revival is in full swing. Tucked away in the heart of the Cornish countryside is Cusgarne Manor, a Grade II* listed Farmhouse with views of a wooded valley and a 13acre nature reserve. It is, in essence, a hidden gem, and is an adultsonly treat. Moreover, its convenient location means that there is easy access to the north and south coasts as well as other popular locations, such as Falmouth, Newquay, St Ives, and Penzance. Inside the accommodation, many of the original features remain. It has character – a history to get wrapped up in – and an ambiance infused with peace and relaxation. The B&B has just three rooms, the Bailey Suite, the Simmons Room, and the Harris Room, with each being named after the families that previously occupied the Manor. All the rooms are en-suite and are individually styled, with soft bedding and wi-fi. The Bailey Suite consists of a king-size room and a linked single room. With some Arts and Crafts furniture and Rennie Mackintosh accents, the larger room has a magnificent wrought iron bed and alludes to the early 20th century. It is decorated with pastel lilac paint that was inspired by the room’s original door colour. Breakfast is an integral part of the Cusgarne Manor experience and has won the prestigious Taste of the West Gold Award. The B&B utilises fresh, quality ingredients that it purchases from local suppliers, as this ensures both an unbeatable taste and sustainable business practices. A local butcher provides the premium quality pork sausages, Cornish hog’s pudding, and unsmoked back bacon used in the establishment’s delectable ‘Full Cornish’ breakfasts. Its organic eggs are sourced from just down the road and are cooked to the customer’s taste. Additionally, its bread is home-made and all dietary requirements are catered for. Cusgarne Manor is incredibly popular, maintaining five-star ratings across a number of platforms. Its exceptional service can best be summarised by Jason’s testimony, commenting on TripAdvisor, he writes, ‘Spent two wonderful nights at this lovely Manor House. Fiona has thought of everything. From the beautiful decor, luxurious toiletries to the fresh milk flask available. Cornish breakfasts are delicious with the very best Cornish produce. The little honesty bar is a lovely touch and has everything you could wish for. It’s like a home from home, and we will definitely be back!’.
