With the expansion of Galveston Island’s port terminal, Wave Dancer Charters will also be adding sightseeing tours for cruise ship passengers to spot birds and dolphins. From the age of 4, his father, Don, would take Greg fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. At 12 years old Greg hit on the idea of owning his own boat. Encouraged by Don, Greg set out to make the cash he needed, and by the time he was 13, Greg had his own boat. Although fishing was always Greg’s passion, his business was in real estate. When a series of hurricanes wiped out many of Greg’s investments, he took a leap of faith and bought a Hatteras sports fishing boat with the money he had left. A couple of years and a couple of USCG Master Captain Licenses later, Greg and his stepson, Taylor Borel, set up Wave Dancer Charters. Greg says, “You’ll never work a day in your life if you love what you do. This is that kind of job. We work 7 long days a week, 365 days a year – well, we do take time off for Christmas and Easter – but it’s the most awesome job in the world.” Founded on strong Christian values, Greg and Taylor’s deep-sea fishing charter service is dedicated to providing every client with a safe and enjoyable day on the water. Having over 30 years’ experience fishing the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston Bay, there’s no doubt that clients are in the safest and most capable hands. Greg tells us, “We have multiple boats and offer custom trips for large groups. Our sportfishing yachts range from 26ft centre console boats to our 46ft Bertram Sportfisherman with full cabin and air conditioning. We have something to cover everyone’s needs, including big open boats for the young and young at heart who like to travel fast. We work hard to offer the best equipment, boats, and customer service.
