Winter 2019

72 This month, we at LUX Life had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa, a spectacular yet quintessential retreat in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, combining exceptional food, service and facilities. We travelled to Bishopstrow as a family of three, my husband and I and our one-year old daughter, and on reflection, we wished that we had taken the dog too, everyone is welcome! We arrived on a gorgeous sunny evening and were welcomed immediately by general manager, Mark Bevan, who encouraged us to feel at ease and to relax into our surroundings, as we would at home. It’s an exciting time to visit as Versant Developments, a private family group purchased the hotel, formerly part of the Longleat Group in 2018. Since making the acquisition, they have undergone extensive redevelopment and they are passionate about maximising the property’s potential and taking it forward into an exciting new era. Located just a short drive from the historic market town of Warminster and positioned on a stunning twenty-seven-acre site in the Wylye Valley, Bishopstrow is a former nineteenth century manor house that stands today as an elegant thirty-two bedroom, countryside hotel. The main house comprises a number of bedrooms, a two AA rosette-awarded restaurant and a number of reception rooms, which guests are encouraged to enjoy at their Bishopstrow where tradition meets elegance leisure. Separate to the main house, the former barns have been converted to house the remaining bedrooms and the luxurious Halcyon Spa, which features an indoor and outdoor pool and an extensive range of spa and wellness facilities. The thirty-two rooms and suites have each been individually designed to have their own unique personality and can accommodate couples and families alike. Choices extend across the main house, the garden wing and the coach house and all the bedrooms come as standard with the luxuries you’d expect along with full access to the Halcyon Spa. We stayed in a suite called “The Lord Castle”, which suited our trio perfectly. Travelling with a youngster, the staff had accommodated all our needs and set up a travel cot in the separate sitting room, they had also gone above and beyond with thoughtful touches including a gorgeous Longleat Lion teddy bear, which our little girl just loved! The suites offer flexible options for those looking for a little more space and luxurious bathrooms with contemporary roll top baths and separate double showers. The larger suites are double level and provide direct access to the gardens with their own private Exclusive
