90 Situated in the village of Lydgate, a 15 minute drive from Oldham, The White Hart has enjoyed a rich and varied history. The pub was built in 1788 and since has served several purposes; from a local police station complete with prisoner’s cells to a Second World War look out point, with the cellars acting as a bomb shelter. Today, a characterful, cosy, rural getaway, we couldn’t resist the offer to come and see what it was all about… The White Hart has been under the ownership of Charles Brierley since 1994; undergoing widespread renovations and extensions, Charles has lovingly transformed The White Hart into an award winning, stand-out venue in the North West. Enjoying incredible views across the Pennines this is a multi-purpose venue where you can eat, drink, stay, meet and celebrate or all the above, if you are lucky enough! A warm welcome is extended from the front of house team; keen to advise on the picturesque village of Lydgate and sights in the surrounding area. The White Hart houses 16 bedrooms, which are all individually styled to an AA 4* Gold Standard. 12 of the bedrooms are situated in the original building and the remaining 4 are spacious family rooms, located in The Cottage next door. We were spoilt with a room in The Cottage, traditionally forming works quarters and now converted into a beautiful bridal suite. The room enjoys contemporary design and sumptuous furnishings, with sloped roofs and A warm welcome from TheWhite Hart at Lydgate exposed beams which combine to generate a stylish yet cosy and quaint atmosphere. The dining options are exceptional at The White Hart, whether you’re after a light lunch, quick bite or fine dining and tasting menu options, there is a selection of menus and a choice of settings for you to choose from. The Brasserie Dining Room is an elegantly designed space with beautiful lighting, which creates an inviting and romantic atmosphere in which to enjoy the mouth-watering a la carte menu. The bar offers a wide selection of spirits and a great range of by-the-glass and by-the-bottle wines, representing some exciting options from all over the world. The cocktails are not to be missed, with a little White Hart twist on all the usual classic and contemporary choices.
