Summer Friends

We have all been through so much over the last eighteen months, but things are finally starting to look brighter out there, and we’re not just talking about the weather. Yes, we have had to deal with an incredibly rainy and miserable spring just as we started being allowed to go outside, but now the summer is here and the UK’s COVID restrictions are being rolled all the way back.

It’s time to step out into the world with a new sense of confidence and optimism, and it’s time to start enjoying ourselves again with the people we love. Here are the essentials that you need to get your summer off to the best possible start.

Start Your Summer Outfit From Scratch

We have all been spending a lot of time in what we could charitably call our “indoor clothes” since March 2020. If you haven’t spent more days than usual working from home in your pyjamas and slippers, you have more determination than we do. But we’re starting a new chapter now, and that deserves a new wardrobe. Don’t just reach into the wardrobe for the same outfit you wore in summer 2019. Treat yourself and build this year’s look from the ground up. Just remember that summer showers are always a possibility!

Get In Shape With New Workout Gear

Speaking of indoor clothes, we have all had a hard time getting motivated to stay in shape during the pandemic. Even if we were doing the occasional exercise routine on YouTube, we haven’t exactly been doing our best workout work. Well, the gyms are back open, and the weather is good enough to start running or cycling again.

If you want to start the summer with a bang, you want to know that you are looking at your best while you’re pushing yourself to the limit. Think about investing in some new running shoes. A lightweight raincoat might be a good idea if you prefer exercising outdoors and you don’t trust the British summer weather. Finally, get yourself a new tracksuit for those workout sessions. If you want to browse tracksuits for women, Gym King has an amazing range of joggers, hooded tops and more.

Don’t Forget Travel Essentials

As hard as it may be to believe, the time has finally come when we can pack our bags and head on holiday. It’s been a long time since anything further away than the local park has felt like a potential travel destination, but with encouraging noises being made about making international travel easier for people who have had both their vaccination shots, it is time to think about digging out your passport, or at least reinstalling that train ticket app on your phone.

Even though restrictions are lifting, you are still going to want to make sure that you are being as careful as possible when it comes to your health and safety. A reusable water container doesn’t just help the planet, it will keep you from having to pop into shops to buy another bottle. Facemasks and hand sanitiser are still a good shout, never forget your phone charger (and adapter if you’re heading abroad!) and think about taking a book with you. Isn’t it time we gave our eyes a rest from all these screens?
