Food & Drink Awards 2020

Best Biodynamic Wine Producer - South Australia

Our goal is to create world class wine with a distinct sense of place. The Yangarra philosophy centers around producing wines solely from our single-vineyard estate, where our bush-vine Grenache is the keystone variety. Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine farm in the McLaren Vale region South Australia. Yangarra situated in Blewitt Springs, in the north-east of the McLaren Vale region. The estate covering 87 hectares has varying aspects amongst the 42 individual blocks spanning 170 to 210 meters in elevation. Yangarra has a unique combination of two geologies, that of the 56 million year old North Maslin Sand group (ferruginous sandstone) and the more recent Semaphore Sand group, predominantly made up of quartz sand. Our location and higher elevations result in slightly cooler growing conditions and wines with concentration of flavour yet with distinctive finesse.
