Berts Bows Best Family-Run Pet Accessories Business – Dorset Apr21411 Bertie the Cockapoo came into Jane and Steve’s life when their two other Cockapoos, Bobbie and Henry had a litter of 11 puppies; they kept one and named him Bertie. Thus came the inspiration for the name of their company: Berts Bows. Jane and Steve initially made bowties for their family of cockapoos, friends and family members, after buying bows from various stores and finding that the quality was not great they didn’t feel they came up to the standards that their pets deserved, so they decided to make their own. Tweed fabric woven in the UK was the initial cornerstone of their designs, being a stylish, durable fabric and very British. Without Jane knowing, Steve took samples to some pet retailers who after seeing the quality of the products happily wanted to stock them and as a result, Berts Bows was born. Ever since, Berts Bows has steadily evolved into the business it is today with great independent customers who have supported them from day one. Within a year after putting in many hours of hard work and persistence, Jane was able to give up her full time career as an area manager in charity retail to concentrate on Berts Bows. Berts Bows has continually expanded its product range to include snoods and scarves, beds and blankets, sit mats, heat bags and hand warmers, doorstops and much more. Berts Bows supply to over 100 independent pet shops and groomers across the UK and Southern Ireland as well as having a strong online presence, they are always looking for new independent stockists and outlets to support and share their journey with, with its growing range of handmade products and designs Berts Bows have become the go to brand for quality, stylish pet accessories.
