As a result, nearly every aspect of the theatre has been designed and redesigned as Studio T+L’s dedicated team have collaborated with the architect and owner, and around changes to the structure, mechanical system, building height etc. Whilst the project is proving a challenge, it will produce a stunning outcome that will be a great space for both performers and their audiences. Looking ahead, as technology continues to affect the design market, LEDs and computers are changing the theatre. New stage lighting fixtures that use three, four, and even seven color systems that can create nearly any color of light are replacing traditional halogen fixtures that emit only one color. Controlling these fixtures requires extensive stage lighting data distribution systems and powerful computer controllers. Computers are also becoming increasingly important to stage rigging, where electrically driven, computer-controlled hoists are replacing manually operated systems. While these systems have many advantages, they are also much more expensive than the equipment they replace and can have a fairly steep learning curve. Perhaps the most difficult part of this technological change is getting clients to plan for the impact of these new technologies on their construction costs and equipment budgets. Overall, these challenges offer firms such as Studio T+L many exciting opportunities for further growth and enhancement over the years to come. Currently, the firm is working on a 3,000-seat outdoor music venue and moving forward the team has high hopes for further projects which will bring it success and ensure it remains a leading light in the theatre design market.
