The lodge is self-catering and a DIY wedding ven- ue, so there are very few barriers for guests and couples who want to create their own ideas and vision. We have suppliers who we recommend from wedding planners and venue stylists to photographers, caterers and florists, but ultimately a couple can do whatever they want. They are welcome to hire a pizza cart to cater for their laid-back wedding breakfast, or a Michelin starred chef for a formal five course meal. Ceremonies can be in the lodge itself, the barn or marquee, on the lawn or next to the lochan on the estate. “The location and the views make the venue unforgettable, second to none, quite unique and breath-taking. Each and every wedding is totally unique and very personalised because couples have so much freedom to play around with, a far cry from choosing from a selection of packages. We would not suit a package bride, we appeal to creative and quirky couples. We help and support them and assist in finding suppliers, but at the end of the day the couple is in charge. I do not recall ever saying ‘no’ to a couple’s request or idea.” Having only completed its 14-bed lodge last year, the team at the estate are keen to Carrick Castle Estate and the newly built 14-bed lodge offer a unique venue for weddings, parties and gatherings. We invited Hannah Mellet to talk us through the estate and the lodge, which was completed last year, and to share how this development has helped the establishment to cement its position as THE wedding venue in Argyll and Bute.
