Its founders, Tei-Fu and Oi-Lin Chen, both have backgrounds as doctors and a shared passion for improving quality of life through boosting people’s health. Consequently, their passion infused the creation of the company, which has since become a global enterprise spanning almost 50 countries and territories. Sunrider Europe Inc provides a plethora of holistic and herbal products to the company’s European clientele – encompassing England, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Austria, Latvia, Italy, and many more. Indeed, the company’s life is entwined with that of its founders, spanning across culture, generations, Western innovation, and ancient Eastern traditions. The company’s story truly begins in Tei-Fu’s homeland, Taiwan. As a sickly child, Tei-Fu was often treated with Chinese herbal remedies by his grandfather – little did anyone know that this would serve as the catalyst for Tei-Fu’s deep interest in Chinese herbal philosophy. Subsequently, Tei-Fu opted to study herbal medicine and pharmacology at university, and it was here that he would first cross paths with Oi-Lin. The pair shared a love for science and a natural curiosity, which promptly blossomed into a relationship. However, at its core, it is a family-owned, multi-generational company that focuses upon combining traditional Chinese herbal studies with modern science in order to create beneficial health products. The company’s European arm acts as a direct sales provider, supplying nutritionally charged herbal supplements and skincare products across the continent assistant and Dr. Tei-Fu Chen had various jobs including 7–11 assistant manager and judo instructor. Their happy family soon began to expand, eventually resulting in five children. However, it was here, in 1982, that their lives would change drastically. Tei-Fu created Sunrider International, a herbal health food and skincare company. Whilst the company began to take off, Oi-Lin continued to practice medicine in order to support the family, but she would soon join the company as president. 1987 saw the couple move the business to Torrance, California, where they built their World Headquarters, beautifully situated on nine acres of land. Not only did Sunrider International continue to manufacture the finest herbal health solutions, but the company also increased its output. As of 2022, Sunrider International boasts approximately two million square feet of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the United States, China, India, Singapore, and Taiwan. Moreover, it is currently building a manufacturing plant on a 71-acre property located in Midlothian, Texas. This location is expected to open in May 2022. All five of the couple’s children hold senior positions within the company – either directly at the corporate headquarters or on the Board of Directors. Of course, this has generated numerous positives for the company – it has enabled effective communication, solid relationships, and a level of transparency that can only be found within family units. Further, they each possess impressive qualifications. For example, their daughter, Wendy Teng, earned a BA in English and biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law. Dr. Reuben Chen, their son, is a board-certified physician specialising in sports medicine and pain management and has extensive training in traditional Chinese medicine. He also has a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from Brigham Young University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Sunny Beutler was recently appointed as the new CEO, bringing years of experience in senior positions and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Juris Doctor to the table. In addition, Eric earned himself a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Brigham Young University and is a PhD candidate in Organic Chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. Last but not least, their son, Jonathan Chen, has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Master’s in Information Systems Management. Each of these aspects have benefitted the company greatly in its global pursuit, forging a solid foundation upon which the company has promoted herbal products to an international audience. Based upon thousands of years of Chinese herbal studies and contemporary science, the company has crafted a blueprint that guides each of its products, from the concept all the way to its creation.
