Spring 2024

Spring 2024| 45 an approach has resulted in the school being one of the strongest in its area academically. Thus, as is to be expected, GCSE results are incredibly strong across the board, with 2023 being the best showing for the institution in more than ten years. Last year, more than 25% of pupils attained a grade 9, with 67% of the grades achieved being between 9 and 7, (or A* to B in the old system). Music was the best performing subject overall, with more than 50% of students gaining a grade 9 in this area. All of these results are offered at a school whereby fees are less expensive than local competition, further fortifying the school’s distinction. Of course, aside from grades, King Henry VIII School is renowned in local circles for the more than 70 clubs and activities it carries out each week, the end goal of which being to create individuals that are healthy, resilient, and well-rounded. Across these clubs and other extra-curricular activities, students are exposed to a diverse range of individuals so as to accurately reflect what life is like outside of a schooling environment, with Coventry being one of the Midlands’ most diverse settings. Moreover, being located in the Midlands means that the school has fantastic transport links, being right next to Coventry’s train station, as well as boasting a series of coach services and local buses to promote independence. Initially formed as a Christian Foundation, the ethos of Christianity still rings true across the setting to this day, serving as an integral pillar and demonstrably contributing to the school’s values and overall character. Present across every element of school life from the classroom environment through to the dozens of activities that take place daily outside of school hours, such principles are in place for the benefit of all students and staff. Leveraging Christian beliefs in its own aims, King Henry VIII School strives to create a safe, healthy, and happy environment through values such as caring, respect, independence, teamwork, responsibility, environmental concern, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and development. King Henry VIII Senior School then educates children from 11-18 years of age, providing them the necessary educational guidance and support that is sure to result in a greater level of achievement than they would garner from elsewhere.
