Spring 2024

Spring 2024 | 9 Furthermore, there are several elements that Richard believes separates the business from its competitors effectively, starting with its luxury craftsmanship and focus on hospitality. Not only does every piece made by the company adhere to the high standards that it sets for itself regarding quality, but its robust linen is also specifically designed to be utilised in the hospitality sector. As Richard explains, “our products are designed to withstand the daily wear and tear of hotels, restaurants, and other establishments. Whether it’s a boutique hotel or a large resort, our linens maintain their elegance even after 250+ washes.” Enduring luxury also comes as standard across CASTELLO®, with a promise that its linen products will outlast even its closest competitors by three times. Such vigour is not much use without the option for customisability, but the business too has this in abundance, with its suite of custom-made linens making products in this range suitable for all, whether a client is seeking a certain colour scheme, embroidery design, or complex sizing. Amidst this prioritising of luxury and quality, cost is also considered, and Richard describes his company as being, “committed to providing competitive prices”, with this being just one of the ways that it is managing the demands of the modern market. As CASTELLO® continues to navigate an ever-changing luxury industry, it remains well aware of the importance of constant evolution so as to carry on providing an experience that is deemed to be exceptional by even the most discerning of travellers. Concerning the younger generations, they have come to expect luxury goods to be authentic and personal, this in addition to their seeking out of products that are environmentally friendly and created by companies that champion sustainable initiatives, such as reducing waste and conserving energy across the manufacturing process. The industry is experiencing change in other ways too, largely as a result of rapid technological advancements, a fluctuating market, and other global influences that are beyond the control of those in the sector. CASTELLO® prides itself on an ability to remain abreast of these trends and thus stay competitive, something it showcases through its mission, “to share our passion for linen with the world and offer a range of linen products that combine tradition, innovation, and sustainability. We are committed to preserving the heritage and craftsmanship of Italian linen, while also incorporating modern design and technology to meet the needs and preferences of our customers.” 2024 will see CASTELLO® continue to embody this commitment fully, particularly on the back of it having secured the newly appointed position of linen supplier for Leading Hotels of the World, with this group representing more than 20,000 hotel rooms across the planet. Commenting on this, Richard tells us, “as we move forward into this exciting year, we anticipate that CASTELLO®’s commitment to quality will continue to enhance the guest experience at Leading Hotels of the World, providing sustainable and elegant linens that reflect both comfort and sophistication.” Since this is the largest single contract that the company has secured over its nine decades of operation, its recognition in the market is clearly continuing to grow, with more people being exposed to the excellence, elegance, and luxury that is today synonymous with the brand and its products. In closing, Richard succinctly summarises, “in a world where hotels require an abundance of linen goods and other textiles to operate, CASTELLO® stands out as a reliable supplier. With a rich history and a focus on excellence, [the company] ensures that guests at these prestigious hotels experience comfort and luxury.” To still be operating after almost 90 years is an incredible feat, and testament to the success of the Campbell family in growing this enterprise with the times, resulting in a business that is today a beacon of luxury and quality for the hospitality industry. Although William Campbell passed away in 2022 at the age of 102, his spirit lives on and his vision continues to drive the business forward. As for the next generation and beyond, the brand is steadfast in its commitment to thinking on a global level, pioneering new and innovative methods to further its industrywide distinction. While it is being recognised for its private label and Italian linen products specifically, CASTELLO® 1935 radiates exemplary practice across the board, and thus has more than earned this accolade. The first 89 years are sure to be an indication of similar prosperity in the future, and we wish the future generations of the Campbell family the best of luck as they continue to build and establish this trusted and luxurious brand.
