This theme continues throughout, with ergonomic spatial planning allowing for large open spaces that invite the outside in. One of the more immediate realisations is an emphasis on community, of spaces designed for coming together and enjoying each other’s company. From the formal lounge, loggia and living room, to the sun deck, lap pool, fine wine gallery and dining room, Cheetah Plains is about becoming whole. Of connecting with family and friends, of course, but also connecting with nature. None of what has been described so far happened by accident. The relative simplicity of these house belies a meticulous planning, courtesy of owner Japie van Niekerk. Ultimately, Cheetah Plains is Japie’s vision made real through significant time, sheer effort and talent. It is a showcase of South African excellence and a festival of luxury, a dance of craftmanship, design, and beauty of every variety.
