For starters, we enjoyed the fresh and vibrant Cornish Crab Cannelloni with mango and watermelon, followed by the wholly satisfying Honey Roast Duck Leg accompanied with Sarawak pepper and English plums. The desert options include a range of traditional and contemporary options, but we couldn’t resist the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which didn’t disappoint! As you’d expect, all the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced and the presentation is exquisite; Head Chef, Mike Shaw's creativity and flair shines through. The whole dining experience is further improved by the extremely accommodating and knowledgeable waiting staff, we thoroughly appreciated their recommendations. The Brasserie is the other main dining space and it sits in the heart of the pub as a traditional, warm and cosy environment in which to enjoy either the a la carte or some of the more casual menu items. With a roaring fire there are some great winter-warming dishes on the menu from Sunday lunch to posh fish and chips, it makes a lovely home from home. The White Hart makes an excellent venue for celebrations, particularly weddings; with the incredible views, St. Anne’s Church opposite and the ability to cater for up to 200 guests. They have a number of rooms licensed for civil ceremonies, and a wonderful outdoor space for a drinks reception, with a Pavilion offering shelter from the elements if necessary. It also has some fantastic options for business use, from small meetings to larger conferences, there is a choice of the Library, Oak Room and restaurant and lounge spaces. The White Hart is a venue where the whole family are welcome, from young children to dogs, everyone is made to feel at home. There are some fantastic local family friendly sites to explore, including the Dovestone Reservoir, part of the Peak District National Park, Saddleworth Llama Trekking Centre and the Stonerig Raceway.
