60 1810LU15 Sande Beck Design was founded in 2008 with Sande’s mother, Peggy Storey, of Birmingham, AL. It has since grown to include an additional designer and business manager. Recently, the firm were selected in LUXlife’s 2018 Leading Designers where they were awarded the accolade Atlanta’s Leading Full Service Interior Design Firm – 2018. Taking time to provide us with an overview of the award-winning firm, is Sande Beck reveals more about the innovative services that they provide. Here at Sande Beck Design, we are mostly a residential design firm although we have completed a corporate office project in Atlanta. Our firm provides all facets of design services including, but not limited to, space planning, material selections, initial drawings, lighting plans, consultation, and staging homes for resale. An excellent designer is one that is organised, creative, passionate about design, a great listener, an attitude of servitude, and one who enjoys his/her work. Excellent design is a result of having a plan. In our experience, so many people will buy things without a plan and that is a mistake. We always begin a new project with simply listening. Listening to the client’s lifestyle, needs of each member of the home, likes and dislikes, etc. Our logo carries a tagline, “Let’s Create Spaces Together”. This is the approach we always use. Once input is gathered, we ask our clients to trust us - we collect an enormous amount of information at the beginning and tell them they will get our best work if they let us create. We use the example of a commissioned painting. One would typically not stand over an artist instructing them how to paint, telling them which colours to add, etc. They trust the artist to create. That is what we ask our clients to do and our clients are always happy - which is the ultimate goal. Our goal is always one of making a home inviting, functional and aesthetically pleasing to the homeowner. Our personal favourite style is simply “pretty”. Pretty can be achieved in so many different design styles - classic, traditional, modern mix, eclectic, mid-century modern and the list goes on. We believe a home should reflect the homeowner and be collected over time. I believe what sets us apart is our focus on having a full plan at the beginning. A roadmap of sorts. We are hands on, diligent and have a mindset of serving our clients. There are no bad questions or ideas. We welcome them, encouraging our clients to provide feedback, both positive and negative, as it serves to make us a better design team. Most importantly, is that we love our work. We are all mothers and we know what it takes to make a home work. Our work is defined by timeless style, sophisticated, elegant and pretty. We hear over and over that our work is “beautiful”. Our clients are typically families with children of all ages. Additionally, we spend a lot of our time focusing on family rooms and kitchens as they are the centres of our households. We are in Atlanta where traditional Southern values are held high. Family first, holidays celebrated with great fanfare, a great sense of community, integrity and welcoming homes. As well as Atlanta, we have completed projects in Florida, Alabama, Washington DC and North Carolina. During the summer of 2018 we were invited to participate in the Cashiers, NC Designer Showhouse. We designed a Ladies Dressing Room and small bath. This event was attended by thousands of people and the feedback was fabulously positive. We kept it pretty, elegant, and sophisticated which appealed to people of all ages. Our overall aims are to build relationships with clients that are positive in which clients are ultimately happy with their spaces we have worked with them to create. Much of our business is repeat business. An example of this is designing a family room one year, and two years later being called back to design a bedroom. We are strategic in our follow through, our constant connection with our clients and our quality work. Also, we aim to be educated and informed of the A Collaborative Creation
