LUX Xmas 2018

LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 61 Xmas 2018 latest happenings, innovations, etc. in the design world. As for being selected as a LUXlife 2018 Leading Designer, it is a great honour. When I first received notification, I was excited and surprised. I am grateful for this honour and I know this will serve to help grow my business. I am thrilled to be able to let others know of our success. This serves as great validation for us and can only be seen as a positive. When I began this business in 2008, we had numerous goals. One of them was to be invited to participate in a Designer Showhouse – which happened this past summer. Another goal from day one, was to be recognised as a leading designer. Thanks to LUXlife, this dream has come true. As such, 2018 has been a great year for Sande Beck Design. Sande Beck Design has been given the opportunity to work on so many great projects with great people. One project that comes to mind that I consider great success, is a full house build in Atlanta. We began in the summer of 2015 with a dinner conversation while on vacation together. The homeowners were deciding whether or not to renovate their existing home or tear it down and start over. The latter won. During the spring of 2016, we met with the builder, Jerome Rosetti, of Mirome Construction and the homeowners. We worked from the ground up in planning and designing all of the mill work, choosing all of the materials, finishes, designing the mudroom, pantry, kids bathrooms, laundry room, basement, etc. A highlight was designing the kitchen, master bathroom and master closets. We used marble countertops, top of the line appliances, and a copper coated lead hood. Then, we designed an iron window framing the breakfast room, as well as a screened porch attached to the kitchen and family room. We chose all of the furnishings and designed multiple interior spaces. The project was completed in October of 2017 and this family of four moved back home then. We learned so much about the process of building a home while joyously working on this project. Our future aspirations are many. It is my goal to be continuously educated on the ever-changing design industry. The internet has changed how our clients shop and become educated themselves. We have decided to embrace this instead of fight it. It is not going away. We ask that our clients make purchases through us, but we will always tell them to search online for anything they are interested in. As a result, they sometimes come up with great ideas. Our clients are intelligent and sophisticated with good taste but need help in pulling rooms together. That is where we come in and offer our expertise. It is also our goal to learn more about e-design as I see this as a big part of the future of design. E-design is essentially long-distance design without ever meeting in person or seeing the space in person. It is all done via the internet and has so far seen great success. Also, I would love to be invited to work on a project outside of the United States and out of the Southeast, as I think that there is a vast world of design opportunity out there which is most exciting. Moving forward, we are currently working on several projects in Atlanta. Amongst them are a family room, a master bedroom, a living room, a powder room renovation and we plan to start a new kitchen and family project within the next few months. This will include rearranging of some walls, adding iron windows, redesigning the kitchen layout, selecting all materials, choosing the furnishings and all materials. This week we are photographing an entire house we have worked on for the past five years. This will be featured in the December 2018 issue of Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles. We are so grateful for all of our clients and have made some great friends along the way. Design is very personal as we are in your space. Most of all, we are blessed to be able to do what we do and call it work.
