Having successfully weathered the Covid-19 storm, and come out on top, we find out more about this innovative company from one of its founders. FiGee Fine Goods Best Imported Beverages Distributor 2021 - Switzerland Sep21638 Based in Switzerland, FiGee Fine Goods was established by dynamic husband-and-wife duo, Fini and Gerik Spiquel, in 2014. In fact, the company name is an abbreviation of both of their forenames. What began with just a few craft spirits on offer now boasts more than 45 exclusive brands for the Swiss market, as well as working alongside other big importers to complete the range. The company’s clientele is predominantly Michelin starred restaurants, 4- and 5-star hotels, and exclusive whiskey and cocktail bars, although it also sells to off-trade specialty stores and distributors, as well as private clients via its website and from the showroom based in Zurich. “FiGee Fine Goods was born of our love of quality and fine products, and our quest to bring them together and share them with you,” says Gerik. “Take your taste buds on a journey with our exclusive selection of smallbatch, artisan-crafted spirits – the way spirits should taste!” As a relatively young company, FiGee Fine Goods tries to do something different to its competitors to allow it to differentiate. Gerik tells us more about what the firm offers to distinguish itself. “We aim for excellent customer experience and loyal customers,” he explains. “We rigorously and carefully test all new products with our tasting panel and clients before we select new brands.” When it comes to recruitment, finding the right candidate who is the correct fit for the company is crucial, but it is also something that the company struggles with. “Finding reliable and honest staff is probably one of the hardest things for a small company,” Gerik elaborates. “We need versatile people who are multitaskers and can adapt and overcome every situation and do tasks outside their role.” The first Covid-19 lockdown back in March 2020 had a massive impact on the company’s revenue due to its main bulk of clientele being in the hospitality industry, and Gerik had to restructure in order to get out the situation. “We took on a few additional exclusive brands and focused our energy on new offtrade clients and our private clients,” Gerik tells us. This diversification was a successful move and now the future is looking good. Recently FiGee Fine Goods was rewarded for its hard work and determination by clinching the title of Best Imported Beverages Distributor 2021 – Switzerland in the LUXlife Food and Drink Awards. As well as this, the company has recently integrated its international shipping to 37 countries on the website, as well as taking on two new whisky brands which are growing fast. Whilst Gerik can’t share specific details of further plans at this moment, he does hint that further new and exciting developments are heading this way. “Let’s just say there’s many new things coming.” Watch this space!
