LUXLIFE MAGAZINE | 5 Five-star hotel Château la Chenevière, located in the heart of the D-Day Beaches and close to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, has formed an exclusive partnership with world renown charity The Greatest Generations Foundation to pay tribute to the most significant military invasion in United States history – the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Together, The Greatest Generations Foundation will be organising a series of lectures over dinner ( open to the hotel’s guests as well as to the general public ) with the heroes of World War II veterans who will share their stories with guests and answer any of their questions. Each table will include a veteran, making sure that diners all get their chance to converse with them while sharing a meal. American veterans scheduled to be in attendance are: FRANK DEVITA, a 93-year-old sailor who delivered 15 loads of Americans into Omaha Beach, STEVEN MELNIKOFF, 99, combat infantrymen with 175th Infantry Regiment, SAMUEL LINDSAY POPE, 97, combat infantrymen with 116th Infantry Regiment on Omaha Beach, JOE REILLY, 97, parachutist with the 101st Airborne Division; ROBERT GOLDSTEIN, 94, Merchant Marine with the United States Navy and GREGORY J. MELIKIAN, communications operator for Supreme Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower. To complement this historic occasion, Château la Chenevière evening with heroes will take place in the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant Le Botaniste, where diners will receive a welcome glass of Champagne, a 3-course meal concocted by Head Chef Didier Robin with wine pairing for 190 euros per person. The event will take place at 7 pm every other Thursday, starting from Thursday, 18 April to Thursday, 28 November. Head chef, Didier Robin, always selects the best ingredients from local farmers and the hotel’s vegetable garden for his kitchen. He offers guests a creative “land and sea” or vegetarian gourmet cuisine, inspired by traditional and regional recipes.
