We had the privilege of speaking with D’Anton owner Gabriele Iaccarino to learn more about this unique place. Now established as one of the town’s most eclectic, eccentric, chic and exciting places to go for a drink, Gabriele reflects with us on the journey that he and his family unit have been through to get to this point. “D'Anton is our home and our way of living it. It's our family, with all its strengths and weaknesses. It's our love for design and hospitality. When you care, from the first day, about giving an experience to your guests and not just a meal or a cocktail, you don't have to be afraid about their expectations or judgments. Just be yourself without pretending to be someone you are not and maybe you will be appreciated for that.” With a stunning ambiance, adorable setting, and an outstanding array of food and drink, D’Anton has quickly become one of the go-to places in Sorrento. But for Gabriele, no matter how successful the bistro and lounge bar may become, the goal always remains the same. “To welcome the people with a sincere smile and to let them feel at home, trying to involve ourselves, in order to enhance the guest experience. And even when we make a mistake, we try with all our efforts to recover, because our goal is to leave always nice memories. We believe in ourselves and in what we do. We like to welcome our guests with the simplicity that defines us, in a scenario which will be constantly changing through the months.” Key to success of this luxurious, little bistro is the team behind Gabriele. Despite being Mr. D’Anton himself, Gabriele humbly recognises and acknowledges the strength and support of those closest to him who have helped realise his dream of owning and running a charming and characterful bistro that is the chic place for a sundowner cocktail. “My mother Antonia, with her crazy innate creativity. She was the one who opened the first interior design shop "Maison D'A", and the one who believed and accepted the change. She can find the inspiration for home decor in few seconds, thanks to the love for her job. My sister Francesca, who graduated as an interior designer. A hard worker, she has accepted learning bartending and restaurant service, and has been fundamental to the business success. My wife Iga, such a determined person who was always by my side, even in the difficult moments. She has changed her life completely for me, deciding to work in this business with all her commitment.” With all the success of 2019 behind them, Gabriele and the entire team at D’Anton remain as hopeful as ever for the future of this exquisite little bistro and lounge bar.
