Winter 2020
What a strange year it has been, especially for the luxury industries. Looking back at the editions published early in the year is a sobering experience. Yet, here we are – for the most part, through the worst.

While we’ve spent the last six months – and all of summer – restricted by lockdowns and curfews and quarantines, all signs point to winter heralding a tentative freedom, of sorts (if nothing too drastic changes). Yet, we’re currently treading water in the mellowed hues of autumn, waiting for more normal operations or a retreat back behind closed doors. It’s a time of utter uncertainty with the future looking both murky and bright.
With many industries adapting to what many describe as the new normal, this summer edition of LUXlife is focused around showcasing the variety of ways in which businesses have changed to continue providing their services to clients.
And so, we come to spring.
Whilst the news at the moment is decidedly morose, we – as always- endeavour to offer a respite. It’s important to stay focused on the positives, and the promise that the future will be better than this rather surreal present.
Fittingly, this issue is a celebration. A celebration of the finest establishments, products and services on the global luxury landscape. From solid gold sound systems, to must-visit archipelago resorts, we have spotlighted just a few of the very best.
All over the world there are signs of its presence – whether you’re currently hunkered down and bracing against a cold chill or gazing out of the window at the grey skies and ever-present rainfall. Of course, for our neighbours in the southern hemisphere, winter means heat, warmth and humidity (I’m slightly envious).
Summer is almost over. Sadly.
Yet, there’s plenty to look forward to as we enter the new season. Whether you can’t wait to dive into the coveted Pumpkin Spice Latte, wrap up warm, or watch the leaves turn, Autumn (or Fall, depending on your preference) is a gift just waiting to be enjoyed.
With a heatwave bearing down upon us (don’t forget to drink plenty of water!), there can be no mistaking that summer is here, and it’s going to be a hot one. So, why not sit back, take a moment for yourself and relax with the latest issue of LUXlife?
It’s time to prepare for that perfect getaway. That idyllic sun-drenched retreat. The untouched slopes, and warm, cosy chalets. The jungle paradise offering the quintessential way to reconnect with nature. Whatever your cup of tea – whether you are setting off for tropical climates or arctic ones – it’s important to claim some time for yourself.
It is the perfect time for a spring clean. Whether it’s rejuvenating a tired old space or finding that perfect wellness retreat to revitalise your mind, body and spirit, it is important to take stock and prepare for the opportunities – and challenges- that lie ahead.
For many, a New Year heralds a fresh start. After all, this is a time for reflection and a time to look ahead, learning from the previous’ years challenges, and exploring new opportunities for growth. This is a time for new beginnings, as businesses around the world set their plans for the upcoming year.
