The 40 Elephants bar is inspired by the glamour and stories of the notorious all female gang, serving specialised, signature cocktails in an inimitable setting, late into the evening. Famous for their glamorous style, high calibre and looks, the notoriety of the young gang came about when lead by Alice Diamond, known as the smartest shoplifter in Great Britain. Under her leadership, they targeted luxury fashion and jewellery shops, successfully stealing the finest garments, furs and diamonds. Every cocktail tells a tale based on the stories of one of the biggest criminal gangs in English history.

Their forty portraits surround the bar and items from their thefts are displayed under glass table tops, whilst Nicola Green’s 5-colour silkscreen print ‘Bob Haired Bandit’ embellished with diamond dust, takes pride of place above the fireplace. The inventive cocktail menu is designed to take you back in time to the glamorous and decadent period of 1920’s London. The Forty Elephants were famous and feared by as the UK’s first and only all female gang, taking a unique place in the history of British crime. They funded a life of decadence in London’s roaring twenties, frequenting the glamorous hotels, bars and theatres that they could only dream about before they turned to a life of crime.
